Alluvial Editing provides scientific and language editing for manuscripts intended for English-language journals. Every edit is performed by a published PhD scientist who also holds a TESOL certificate. In addition to grammar and style, each edit addresses the argument, the methods, and the presentation of figures and tables, with particular attention to the phrasing that most often causes reviewers to misread authors writing in a second language.

Editor’s comment: Please note, “proves” overstates the evidence provided by a correlation, which reviewers may raise in their review. Presenting the conclusion as a supported inference, and stating that nitrate isotopic data are required to exclude manure or septic sources, addresses this objection.

- Laboratory discount: 10% from the third manuscript submitted by the same research group
- Minimum charge: $75 per order
Process
- Submit the manuscript. Send the manuscript file, the target journal (if known), and the required deadline by email. The editor reviews the abstract and opening pages and provides a fixed quotation within one business day.
- Confirm and pay the deposit. Payment is accepted by credit card or bank transfer. Formal invoices are provided for institutional payment or reimbursement.
- Receive the edited manuscript. Each delivery includes a tracked-changes file, a clean copy, an editing certificate, and the balance invoice. Scientific Editing also includes the editorial memorandum, and Submission Preparation includes the journal shortlist, cover letter, and other agreed materials. Follow-up questions may be sent within 14 days of delivery.
About
Alluvial Editing is run by David Ure, PhD (Chemistry and Biochemistry), who edits every manuscript personally. Dr. Ure is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada, where his research addresses nutrient cycling, aqueous geochemistry, water quality, and stable isotope methods in agricultural and Great Lakes systems. He has published first-author papers in ACS Agricultural Science & Technology, the Journal of Environmental Management, Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, and the Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology, for which he has also served as a peer reviewer.
Before completing his doctorate, Dr. Ure taught English as a second language in Seoul, South Korea, for three years, and he holds a TESOL certificate from the London Language Institute (2013). This combination of scientific training and language teaching informs his work with researchers writing in a second language.
Since 2022, Dr. Ure has edited approximately 1,400 manuscripts for authors publishing in English-language journals, including scientific edits involving direct correspondence with authors. Most of this work has been in soil, water, and plant science, and in environmental chemistry and engineering.
As a result, each edit anticipates the claims that reviewers in these fields are likely to challenge, the methodological detail that journals now require, and the changes needed for a sound study to read as one.
